Given the dangerous crisis facing the Jewish State of Israel and Judaism worldwide, I pose the question: When and how can the Netanyahu government, the most right-wing extremist and theocratic government Israel has seen since its founding, be removed?
Not only is it responsible for the massacres of October 7, 2023, but it now steadfastly refuses to take responsibility for them. Its completely out-of-control war management demonstrates not only a complete incompetence, but also a complete unwillingness to act in a goal-oriented manner.
On the one hand, Netanyahu demands that his ministers follow his instructions uncritically. On the other hand, he has made himself a puppet for the far-right, fascist, and Kahanist ministers and the ultra-Orthodox. And so, he oscillates, completely helpless, between his own fear of having to admit his failure as Prime Minister and resign and the demands of the ministers who are blackmailing him with their demands. If he doesn’t give in to them, they’ll break up the coalition. He won’t win the next elections. His status as PM will no longer protect him in court, and he’ll quickly end up where he belongs: in prison.
His right-wing extremist ministers are raging unchecked with their Judeo-Nazi dreams of a Greater Israel. They are pursuing untenable annexation plans for Samaria and Judea. They are inciting their willing Jewish settler terrorists to expel the Bedouins and Palestinian farmers who have lived there for centuries. What Smotrich fails to accomplish with his responsibility for „civilian settlement construction in the West Bank,“ Ben-Gvir accomplishes with his private gang of thugs and supreme command of the police forces in Israel. They are pushing the tormented civilian population of Gaza from place to place and are now planning to herd them into a modern-day ghetto concentration camp.
Any Israeli in a leading position who opposes Netanyahu and the government will be removed from office: Yoav Gallant, Ronen Bar, Gali Baharav-Miara, Yuli Edelstein, to name just the most prominent.
The incredible damage caused by this government under Prime Minister Netanyahu is almost beyond repair. Our global reputation in the economic, social, diplomatic, academic, artistic, and military spheres has been destroyed. Jews worldwide, too, must endure extremely virulent anti-Semitism.
The damage to Israel, once an admired state, and to Judaism, has been ruined for many years to come.
Israel is on the path to being reduced to a pariah state. Unfortunately, Prime Minister Netanyahu has failed to recognize his „mene, mene, tekel.“
How can we Israelis take action to democratically remove Netanyahu from office and hold new elections?
